PG or propylene glycol is an organic compound. A clear, colorless, nearly odorless, viscous liquid with a mildly sweet taste. PG is recognized and considered generally safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is commonly used as a preservative in food and for tobacco products, as well as pharmaceutical and personal care products such as toothpaste and asthma inhalers.
